It was my fault (Poetry Series)

It was my fault,

No one else’s I swear,

The reason why I’m crying here,

Wrapped in my own misery.

It was my fault,

Because I let them get me,

I lowered myself to the ground,

So that I could be in the same position as them.

I laid myself under their feet,

I gave them the stone to throw at me,

It was my fault,

For doubting myself,

For waiting for their approval,

For destroying myself for them.

And now I’m older and I’m wiser,

They can’t touch me no more,

Because they cannot step on someone

Who is standing proud and tall.
